Does Drinking Water Help Acne – Is It A Myth?

It is not a secret that water plays crucial role in our health. We also know that 70% of our body is built by water/fluid, but does drinking water help acne? If it does, why is it so?

Our body need enough water to run daily work, this includes stimulate new cell growth, get rid of toxins in the body and flush out harmful substances through sweating and urinate, and not forget, we also need water to keep our body hydrate.

As you may know, human skin is the largest organ in our body, it stores around 12% water in order for it to work correctly. It is important to keep this amount of water deep within our skin so that we can have a soft, crystal clear and younger looking skin.

Now, let’s go back to the question: does drinking water help acne? The answer is a sure yes. By drinking water, we can flush out the toxins in our body, eventually we will have cleaner blood as well as body cells.  The cleaner the blood the healthier the skin will be, and the fewer pimples will be.

By drinking water, we can hydrate the entire body inside out.  One of the main causes for one to have acne problem is due to oily skin. Many people thought that those who have oily skin should cut down the water intake. They thought the main reason for their skin to produce excessive oil is because there is too much water under their skin or in other words, their skin is over hydrated.   But they are wrong.

When our skin is dehydrate, in order to protect our skin from being too dry, our glands will produce more oil to keep the skin “moisture”.  Hence, the more dehydrate our body is, the more and more oil our glands will produce, and the more oily skin you will get. Now, oily skin is the right environment for bacteria to flourish, these bacteria infect many glands and produce acne. Not only has that, sweat combines with skin oil will trap dirt and bacteria in your pores easily, making acne worst!

The ultimate solution: Drink Enough Water.

But how many glasses of water consider as enough? You probably heard from others that you should drink eight glasses of water a day. But do you know that these eight glasses of water are referring to plain water, which means not including soda, coffee, tea, milk, juice you drink each day. If you are coffee lover who have several cup of coffee daily, you should drink more plain water (more than 8 glasses a day). Remember, drinking plenty of water will keep the skin looking and feeling healthy.  Healthy skin cells promote a healthy body.

Computer is something we cannot miss in today life; we use computer in our working life as well as leisure time. Though computer brings lot of benefits to us, it does harm our skin. Our skin become dehydrates if we sit in front of the computer for a long period. Therefore, it is important to keep a water bottle near you when you are using computer to do your daily activities.

If plain water is too boring for you, add a few drops of lemon juice then. By doing so, you are not only adding additional flavor but also great value to the drinking water.  Lemon juice is well-known in beauty industry; it is rich in vitamin and good to our health. If possible, drink one glass of warm lemon water with empty stomach right after you wake up from bed.
